ALTHOUGH OUR CLASSES ARE NOT WOMEN ONLY, WE HAVE CREATED A COMMUNITY WHERE WOMEN FEEL INCLUDED, RESPECTED AND COMPLETELY AT HOME. MANY WOMEN TRAIN TOGETHER AT ATHENA, BUILD NEW FRIENDSHIPS AND ENJOY THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING STRENGTH AND TECHNIQUE. WE WELCOME BEGINNERS, RETURNING LIFTERS AND ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GROW THEIR CONFIDENCE UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF PROFESSIONAL COACHES.

OUR OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING CLASSES ARE COMPLETELY BEGINNER FRIENDLY. WE TAKE TIME TO TEACH YOU THE FUNDAMENTALS OF EACH MOVEMENT USING SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL DRILLS. YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO HOLD THE BAR, HOW TO POSITION YOUR FEET, HOW TO MOVE YOUR HIPS AND HOW TO LIFT WITH GOOD FORM.

WE BREAK DOWN EACH LIFT INTO MANAGEABLE STEPS SO YOU NEVER FEEL RUSHED OR OUT OF YOUR DEPTH. OUR COACHES PROVIDE CONSTANT FEEDBACK AND SUPPORT, ENSURING YOU ALWAYS FEEL SAFE AND CONFIDENT AS YOU LEARN. WHETHER YOU HAVE NEVER LIFTED BEFORE OR YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR TECHNIQUE, WE WILL HELP YOU PROGRESS AT A PACE THAT SUITS YOU.

OUR ANNUAL WOMEN ONLY EVENT – BARBELLS AND BADASSES

EACH YEAR WE ARE PLANNING AND HOSTING A WOMEN ONLY LIFTING EVENT CALLED “BARBELLS AND BADASSES”. THIS EVENT CELEBRATES FEMALE STRENGTH, CONFIDENCE AND COMMUNITY. IT IS A FUN, UPLIFTING DAY FILLED WITH COACHING, LAUGHTER AND ACHIEVEMENT. MANY WOMEN WHO ATTEND OUR REGULAR CLASSES TAKE PART AND FIND IT INCREDIBLY INSPIRING. READ OUR BLOG ON THIS SUCCESSFUL FIRST EVENT IN 2025. WHILE THIS EVENT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE A YEAR, IT REFLECTS OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING AND CELEBRATING WOMEN IN STRENGTH TRAINING.
